Many homeowners know that under-counter baskets or bins are excellent for organization. Or that a drawer organizer can help keep contents tidy and neat. But they may not know that bathroom organization can get pretty creative and fun! These tips will help you keep your space clean, put-together, and ready whenever (pardon the pun) duty calls.
Creative bathroom organization ideas
1. Embrace open shelving. While it's true that there are many bathroom items you would rather have behind closed doors, using decorative containers and boxes on open shelving lets you easily store numerous items while still keeping them discreet.
2. Recessed shelves save space. Recessed shelving offers a place to set your products and bathroom tools without taking up square footage or jetting into the room. A recessed shelf in the shower can hold soaps and more without making the space feel cramped.
3. Consider a peg board. Pegboards aren't just for garages or basements; with a coat of paint or a decorative pattern, they can be a beautiful way to hold things like a toothbrush, comb, or hair bands. Plus, you can easily cut the board to fit your wall space and arrange the hook holders again and again.
4. Think outside the box. An office file sorter, made to hold file folders vertically next to each other, can be used for linens. Tightly roll washcloths or hand towels and stack them in each pocket. Arrange them in a pattern or sort by color for visual appeal.
5. Hanging is for more than towels. Is your shower short on shelving? Install a tension rod, then add shower curtain hooks with clip-on holders. You can then clip them to the top of a tube of shower gel or face wash; simply open, squirt, and close the lid.
6. Maximize wall space. In truth, there can be a lot of unused wall space. Consider the walls on the side of your vanity; instead of a picture or towel hanger, try to fit in open shelving. You can still include artwork or a towel above and below while having a spot for your perfume or lotions.
7. Try a tension rod under the sink. Tension rods are great for under the sink too. They can hold spray nozzles, rags, and much more. With the majority of the bulky bottles hanging, you'll have plenty of room for caddy or bin storage.
8. Suction cup storage. Did you know suction cup organizers aren't just for glass or mirrors? Some versions can affix to tiles too. Consider useful suction cup storage if you have a backsplash around your vanity or tile wainscoting.
9. Baskets are for more than waste. If open shelves by the toilet aren't appealing, try a basket with a lid to hold spare towels and toilet paper, or be used as a hamper. It will keep everything sealed away and look aesthetically pleasing too.
10. Knife strips for the win. Magnetic knife strips are usually found in the kitchen. Installing one inside your bathroom drawers will help keep your tweezers or nail file easily accessible. They can also hold shears, bobby pins, or any other metal bathroom tool.
Sometimes, thinking outside the (bathroom) box can lead to storage options you may not have previously considered; organizing your powder room products for a less chaotic morning routine.
